The NZQA Diploma in Professional Scuba Instruction and National Certificate Courses are specifically designed to prepare divers with the knowledge, techniques and skills required for a career in diving. The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is your key to a new career and a new lifestyle! The IDC begins with independent learning and encompasses both the Assistant Instructor (AI) course and the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) programme.

PADI Assistant Instructor:

The PADI Assistant Instructor (AI) course prepares divers for everything they need to know to become an instructor. It expands your knowledge, skills and experiences to provide a safe diving environment for instructing students.

During this programme, you will learn the PADI System of diver education.

• Standards and Procedures
• Effective academic teaching presentations
• Confined Water skills and Techniques
• Conducting Open Water training dives
• The business of diving and additional related topics.

The PADI Assistant Instructor rating allows divers to function as instructional assistants and independently conduct certain PADI programmes. In order to teach and certify Open Water students, divers must complete the OWSI programme.

PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor:

When you complete the IDC, you will have been trained and prepared to successfully attend the PADI Instructor Examination (IE). This is the final step toward your Open Water Scuba Instructor certification.
